Submachine Comic Book – end of campaign

Thank you all for funding this book, you beautiful people!

I can’t stress enough how amazed I am by your response to this campaign. You smashed both stretch goals and I’m in awe.

The fact that I have 62 pages to work on gives me so much joy. I’ll be able to go big. The book will be so much better thanks to all of you.

What you see above is going to be attached to my hip for the next few months and you will be informed about progress at all stages. Even earlier than you’d expect.

In August I’m taking this to my annual vacation trip to Croatia, where I’ll be able to finalise the storyboard while being disconnected from the internet for two weeks.

Someone might say – Hey, it’s a vacation, you’re not supposed to work there!

First of all – once my mind calms down and there’s only sounds of the sea and cicadas it goes straight into hyper-creative mode. Can’t help it.

Second of all – Submachine Card Game was invented from scratch there, so you know… This method is tried and tested. :D

Stay tuned, I will be posting some photos here and there from the process on my social media.

On a more technical note – Kickstarter takes two weeks to secure funds and after that I should be able to send you backer survey to collect your shipping data, including phone numbers and additional questions like which language version you want.

I think that will happen early August, before me going away to Croatia.

Once again, thank you all from the bottom of my heart.

You guys are the best.

Submachine Comic Book – stretch goal #2 – achieved

I will be honest, guys. When I was setting up this stretch goal six days ago I thought it was unreachable.
Alas, once again, you proved me wrong.
You are amazing.
I applaud you at the end of time.
What a high note to end this campaign on.
Let’s relax and take it all in.
No more stretch goals.
That’ll do.

The campaign ends today but it’s only a beginning of our journey with this book. Soon more details about what’s going to happen next.

Today, we celebrate. :D

Submachine Comic Book – stretch goal #2

Once again, this stretch goal directly impacts the contents of the book. More comic book pages means more Submachine. I will be able to create bigger panels or even go with few full-page panels here and there to better show the megalithic nature of Submachine architecture.

Submachine Comic Book – stretch goal #1 – achieved

Thank You all so much for making this possible! :D

Now the book will have 54 instead of 46 pages, which is a blessing for me, as this number of pages fits the story that I’m trying to tell much better.

Moving on, I added another stretch goal to expand the book even further. However, with this stretch goal I’m counting on NEW backers that are maybe still undecided or will be drawn to this project by forces unknown at the end of the campaign.

You guys, people that already backed this project – you already have done more than enough.

Once more, I thank You all wholeheartedly.

Submachine Comic Book – stretch goal #1

This stretch goal directly impacts the contents of the book. Let’s make this book longer. You will get more Submachine.
Mind you, it’s not that I’ll just stretch the story out on few more pages.
It’s the opposite.
I won’t have to cut the story as much.
You see, my process is: coming up with ideas, turning them into series of images, dialogue and page layouts, interweaving them all without any page limit or constraint and then seeing what number of pages I land on. Usually that number is too high and I have to tidy up the story, make it more snappy, lean, condensed and shortened. The more pages the book will have, the less of that trimming takes place.
Remember, I will be finalising complete storyboard this August nnd from what I’m seeing, I’m already beyond 46 pages of story.

Submachine Comic Book

Submachine Comic Book tells the story within the universe of games of the same name. For at least 10 years players of my games have been asking for such comic book. Finally, in 2025 I came up with a good story for it and I’m ready to merge two facets of my creative output: Submachine and comic books.

It will be hand-painted by me using watercolors and ink. Hence, this project will generate real comic book pages, which you can get as add-ons while pledging your support.

What is Submachine?

Submachine is a worldwide known series of games. Its latest iteration, Submachine Legacy currently sits at comfortable Overwhelmingly Positive review score with 98% positive reviews on Steam.

What’s the story?

Due to the nature of Submachine games, there are rarely opportunities to show the bigger scope of large Submachine structures, its grand design and mega-structures. In games we’re spending most of our time being trapped inside the structure. This book gives me an opportunity to show you what’s on the outside. To pull the camera back and look at the big picture.

This book explores different eras of Submachine and adds plenty to the lore of its world. We will be following few completely different characters and their stories might intersect, even if separated by centuries. Lifespan of a human being is nothing compared to longevity of the machine itself.

Although the story is mostly complete, I can’t say more about it, due to spoilers. This is a very sensitive matter, as players of my games always insisted on jumping in blind into my games without knowing literally anything about its story or puzzles.I feel this also applies to this comic book.
