Aaaah, the kite. One of my favorite squirrel games of all times. I can’t really tell if the concept of the game is that original as I think it is, but see for your self. It’s a windy afternoon, and you went out to the fields to fly a kite. It’s all fun and pleasure, until those orange-whatsoever-something enemies appear trying to tear your kite apart. So – avoiding them will prolong your kite-fun. Also some acorns as usual for extra bonus points. This game has a good vibe and great atmosphere thanks to the ambient I found on the web.

This is a concept of a game that I created all by myself and never seen anything similiar on the web. Point and click. When you click the stage, the squirrel will go to that spot, collecting gems for points on the way there. But watch out for the bombs and that orange enemy that appears from time to time. You have three lives, or three squirrels rather, as you blow up your character, another one takes it’s place. That’s a team spirit or what!

Viva la Vida (2004)

 

Watercolour paintings I created back in fall of 2004 for the spectacle of the Occasional Theatre from Sopot entitled Viva la Vida, based on the life and works of Frida Kahlo. I made 5 drawings which took part in the stage set up.

„Viva la vida” – the title of last painting of Frida Kahlo. Performance is an inspiration from her artistic work, it is not the story about Kahlo life, but the attempt at finding universal truth in her extremely personl art. Originally it is a contemporary dialogue with Frida’s atistic work, hence the idea for inviting Mateusz Skutnik to spectacle – the graphic and cartoon artist from Gdańsk. Scenery and choreography relate to these trains performed in art of Mexican painter, which in our opinion, often tell about bad fortune of human being in really forcible way, about his suffering and attempts to survive, about complicated relationships, and first and foremost about this, and in spite of this, and maybe because of this we still want to live, create and love. So…Long live the life!

The artistic work of Frida Kahlo might be liked or not, but it is impossible to have your eyes revited to her visionary , colourful paintings. The dancers of the Occasion Dance Theatre created the spectacle matching to its beauty and power effect. […] They managed to avoid a trap of illustration of biographical trains and copy of her paintings. Emotions lying in Frida’s paintings they transferred to body language of gestures. They look at her artistic work through their own experiences and sensitivity. […]. It was a great idea the artistic draw up of paintings was entrusted to Mateusz Skutnik. In watercolours he came off the literal meaning and colouring. […] On his pictures we cannot see the characteristic face of artist. There is a girl with dark hair, with slightly marked facial features. Each of us can see what she/he wants, that what is painful and pinch in her/his own corset. And the dancers in five consistent and well-though-out choreographies expressed the sadness, fight with pain and constant appetite for life.

Elipsa

Z lekkim opóźnieniem pojawia się na Relazie recenzja drugiego tomu cyklu Mateusza Skutnika ‘Rewolucje’. Z opóźnieniem, ale tak naprawdę to nie przeszkadza, gdyż książeczka ta na pewno na trwałe zagości w panteonie polskiego komiksu. To dziełko, do którego trzeba dotrzeć samemu, odkryć je w sklepie z komiksami i wyjść z albumem Skutnika, ciesząc się, że oto samemu, może po raz pierwszy w życiu, znalazło się skarb. Ja odkryłem ten komiks, gdy był jeszcze drukowany na portalu ‘Esensja’. Zakochałem się w nim od pierwszego wejrzenia, a z wydania ‘Rewolucji’ w formie albumowej ucieszyłem się, jak z żadnej innej polskiej premiery na naszym komiksowym rynku.

‘Rewolucje’ to rzecz oderwana od jakichkolwiek wpływów i inspiracji. Widać, owszem, nawiązania do steampunku, ale całość ma tak oniryczny, groteskowy i bajkowy charakter, że naprawdę bardzo daleko mu do tego, co stanowi o esencji gatunku. Krótkie fabułki, z rysowanymi przez Skutnika pokracznymi ludzikami układają się w misterną, delikatną jak pajęcza nitka materię. W pierwszym albumie – ‘Parabola’ – Skutnik przechodził od jednej historyjki do drugiej w ten sposób, że trzecioplanowa postać części pierwszej stawała się głównym bohaterem części drugiej. W ‘Elipsie’ przechodzenie od historii do historii przejawia się poprzez zmianę punktu widzenia. Oddany w pastelowej kolorystyce świat komiksu wydaje się tak dokładny i misterny, że sprawia wrażenie, jakby Skutnik robił zdjęcia własnym snom. To mogłyby być ilustracje do ‘Mesjasza’, poszukiwanej od pięćdziesięciu lat zaginionej powieści Brunona Schultza.

Jakby tego było mało, ‘Rewolucje’ to komiks traktujący z surrealistycznym humorem o sprawach ostatecznych. O człowieczeństwie i technologii. O wpływie rozwoju cywilizacji na relacje międzyludzkie. O małości i wielkości człowieka. W ‘Elipsie’ mamy profesora, który wyliczył rachunek prawdopodobieństwa dla całego kosmosu. Jednak dalej spaceruje wzdłuż plaży, zbierając kości ptaków, mimo że i tak doskonale wie, gdzie będą. Mamy historię o przenośnym telefonie, skończoną wspomnieniem pocztowych gołębi. Mamy małych ludzików, w obcym, złym, pełnym nowych maszyn świecie. Mamy sen, rzeczywistość, życie i śmierć. ‘Rewolucje’ to piękny i ważny komiks. Skarb. Czytać. Rozkaz.
